Rise, Shine, and Wrench Time
6:45 a.m. – The sun’s barely up, but the shop lights are already humming. First order of business? Coffee. The kind that puts hair on your chest and clarity in your FLHA. We roll into the yard, throw on our coveralls, and settle in for the sacred morning meeting — affectionately referred to as “the boys’ boardroom.” FLHAs get filled, the day’s tasks are hashed out, and someone always forgets a pen.
7:00 a.m. – Boots on, tools out. Let’s get it.
Breathing new life into the rental fleet is the name of the game. Some days it is full shop mode — inspections, overhauls, and tightening up the equipment before it heads back out to earn its keep. Other days? It is field call after field call — chasing breakdowns, keeping pipe layers, 30-ton excavators, and a fleet of support equipment running smoothly in the dirt. Whether it is shop or site, the work stays steady and the coffee stays strong.
10:00 a.m. – Mandatory morale maintenance.
Coffee break. Non-negotiable. It is not just about the caffeine (although, let’s be honest, it mostly is). It is a chance to reset, swap stories, and poke a bit of fun at whoever parked the worst that morning.
10:50 a.m. – Back at it.
We reassess the job, update the FLHA with what we have seen so far, and keep things rolling. Whether it is a hydraulic hiccup or an electrical ghost, we dive into diagnostics and do not let go until the machine is humming. OEM software? Check. Wrenches? Always. Determination? Never leaves the truck.
12:00 p.m. – Lunch break.
Out in the field, it might be a cold lunch out of the service truck — or if I am lucky, I find a place to heat it up. When we are in the shop, we head to the lunchroom to catch a break and regroup. No matter where we are, it is a chance to refuel before the afternoon grind kicks in.
Afternoon Hustle
The second half of the day is back to the grind — finishing off service jobs, fielding the next call, or buttoning up the last bolts on a rental unit that needs to go. From diagnostics to dispatch, the mission stays the same: keep our clients’ fleets turning over and moving forward.
Proven Mining Mechanics: Not Just Turning Wrenches — Turning Heads
From pre-trip coffees to post-repair sign-offs, every day out in Grande Prairie is a mix of hustle, humor, and high standards. We are not just fixing iron — we are fueling operations.
